At Kalahari Bulletin we strive to give an accurate account of news and events relevant to the community of the Northern Cape, especially towns in the Kalahari region.

On Thursday, 25 June, we failed to do that.

The story “Virus tref Namakwaland” written by Isaac Cloete contained some errors.

This article wrongly claimed that a doctor, employed at Black Mountain Mine, had tested positive for Covid-19 after visiting Cape Town early in June.

Dr Andre Stoffels, who is one of two doctors in Aggeneys, says he did travel to Cape Town earlier this month for a medical appointment.

He also confirmed that he did come in contact with Covid-19 cases. However, all tests he underwent came back negative.

Kalahari Bulletin regrets the error and apologises to Dr Stoffels for any inconvenience or distress this article may have caused him.
