The office of the Kimberley SPCA was ransacked on Saturday evening (05/02) and most of the office equipment – including laptops, phones and a television – was stolen.

Now the organisation desperately needs laptops or computers on loan.

The staff need to work on Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, for which the SPCA has its own licence. Cellphones on loan are also needed so that staff members can make use of WhatsApp and Google Maps. The SPCA has its own SIM cards.

In addition, the roof and ceiling need to be fixed, and a 5 m section of damaged fencing needs to be replaced.

A door and burglar bars also need to be replaced.

A security company has since offered to provide guards, and another company has volunteered to fix a broken window.

Although the SPCA has insurance to cover the majority of the stolen items and damages, the applicable excesses for the claims were not budgeted for.

Donations of cat and dog food would lighten the financial load.
