Students of Konoha Martial Arts from Kathu and Kuruman brought home 84 medals after delivering an exceptional performance at a recent provincial championship.

They competed across sport boxing, low and high kick combat sports, grappling and combat weapons at the North West and Northern Cape Ring Contact Fighting Arts (RCFA) provincial championships, hosted by Radja Martial Arts. The Konoha team of 15 students earned 42 gold, 37 silver, and five bronze medals.

Several students also qualified for the provincial team and will represent both Konoha Martial Arts and the Northern Cape at the national championships from 24 to 26 October at the Emerald Tsogo Sun in Vanderbiljpark.

The qualifiers are Dihan and Dewald van Huysteen jnr, Rolandi Ellis, Kyle Barendse, SJ Everts (junior tournament champion), Harmony Evans, Jacques van Eeden, Estienne Scholtz and Sabata Lempe.

“Our students showed true dedication, discipline and spirit. We are confident they will represent the Northern Cape with excellence,” says Soke Sensei Rainer Jacobs.
