Three men were arrested for the alleged theft of copper cable worth approximately R1 million.
Earlier in June police members of the Springbok Visible Policing Unit made the arrests after a complaint of alleged copper theft at a cellphone tower.
About 86 m of copper cable was stolen and they managed to retrieve about 70 m on the scene. Two pangas, a hand-saw and a screwdriver was also confiscated. Lt Col Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, said they will soon appear in court on charges of tampering with, damage, and the destruction of essential infrastructure.
