The power station at Blanckenberg’s Vlei in Kimberley, which used to be the city’s central power station. During the period of 1902 to 1935, this power station held a world record for being shut down only once, for a period of 90 minutes, due to breakdown. Electricity in KImberley, for domestic use, was made available in 1901. The power station does not exist anymore.
