All steam locomotive and train enthusiasts can get their camera ready.

If you are near the railway track in Greenpoint in Kimberley on Saturday, 22 June, around 09:00, or in Petrusburg around lunchtime, or in Bloemfontein near De Brug in the afternoon, you can watch (from a safe distance) a locomotive and some carriages gracefully move past, just like in the golden days when steam passenger and freight trains thundered across the vast landscapes of central South Africa.

The train is moved in preparation for the New Cape Central Railway’s (NCCR) upcoming International Photographic Rail Tour.
