Do you have some woodwork or furniture that has been painted that you are looking to restore to its original glory?
When using a paint stripper, you will need to wear heavy-duty rubber gloves and safety goggles to protect you from the chemicals.
Duram’s paint stripper (Durastripp) is a highly effective and easy to use paint stripper that can remove almost all paint from a wide range of surfaces. It softens the paint so you can easily scrape it off with a scraper.
If the paint is a bit stubborn, you can probably use a gas flame to soften it.
Hold the flame a couple of centimetres away from the finish and apply heat until the paint bubbles. Keep the torch moving so you do not burn a single spot.
Use a scraper to remove the softened paint.
After you are done scraping the paint off, wipe off the remnants with a cloth dipped in turpentine.
Thereafter you can start sanding your project until the raw wood can be seen again.
It depends on what your surface looks like, but if it is a flat area it is easy to use a hand sanding machine. A mouse sanding machine works just as well.
If you want to purchase a sanding machine, Lumber City Kuruman and Lumber City Upington have a variety available.
Otherwise you can just use elbow grease to sand the old-fashioned way, by hand.
When you have sanded down your project and smoothed the surface out, you can apply Woodoc Deep Penetrating Furniture Wax to protect and nourish the wood.
This unique liquid wax not only cleans and beautifies, but penetrates varnish, sealers and polish effectively to feed and protect the wood below.
