Arthur Jantjies, renowned long-distance athlete from Hopetown in the Northern Cape and a member of the Kgosi Galeshewe Athletics (KGA) club in Kimberley, successfully defended his title at the Kloppers Marathon on Saturday, 8 February, in Bloemfontein. He even improved his time of 2024 by 10 minutes, completing the race of 42,2 km in 2:23:00. Last year Jantjies was the winner of the 54th Diamond Marathon presented by the Kimberley Harriers Running club, which he completed in 2:27:23. This was faster than his 2:32:17 when he won the Vodacom Meerkat Marathon the previous month. The weekend after that, Jantjies won the 2024 edition of the Kloppers Marathon in 2:33:28. In April last year, Jantjies earned himself a new personal best time of 2:19:42 during the Durban International Marathon.
