Brig. Mohale Ramatseba, police spokesperson, says the incident occurred in Segwaneng Village outside Bothithong in April 2019.

The victim, who had filed for a restraining order against the convict, was walking from school when Kakue dragged her into the bushes.

He assaulted her with stones and his fists, threatened her with a knife and raped her.

According to Ramatseba, Kakue threatened the victim and demanded that she withdraw the protection order against him.

Kakue was arrested on the same day.

The investigating officer, Const. Lorato Michelle Badukane, successfully opposed bail.

Kakue remained in custody until his sentencing.

Commander of the Kuruman Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS), Capt. Caren Nel, applauded Badukane for her commitment, dedication and passion in ensuring that justice was served.

The John Taolo Gaetsewe cluster commander, Maj. Gen. Johan Bean, and the FCS provincial commander, Brig. Nicky Mills, commended the Justice Department and the National Prosecuting Authority for working closely with Badukane in ensuring that this perpetrator of gender-based violence is removed from the community.
