Emergency medical officers in the Northern Cape will be issued with a full range of protective clothing by the Department of Health.
Lebogang Majaha, department spokesperson, said that the MEC for Health, Mase Manopole, and the acting head of the department, Dion Theys, launched the official distribution of the uniforms on 10 June.
Majaha said front-line operational staff will each receive the full range of protective clothing, including operational trousers and shirts, strengthened boots and other small items.
“The new uniforms comply with the national uniform and protective clothing strategy.”
He said that the Covid-19 lockdown had resulted in the delivery of the protective clothing being delayed.
“Delivery was delayed during the strict Covid-19 lockdown, but we are very pleased that the kit is now in the province and being parcelled up for delivery to each emergency care officer in the Northern Cape,” Majaha said.
