Hundreds of young girls in communities across the Siyancuma
Local Municipality are being supported by a newly launched personal hygiene
initiative, aimed at enhancing health and hygiene standards.

Funded by Boikanyo Solar, it has reached 600 Gr.4 learners of six primary
schools, equipping them with essential hygiene tools and education to highlight
the importance of cleanliness.

“Good hygiene enables children to lead healthier lives, and
I am proud to have been part of bringing this initiative to life for the
benefit of the children of my community,” said Charlein Pienaar, community
operations intern at Boikanyo Solar.

Each of the learners received packs containing necessary
toiletries to take care of personal hygiene and prevent the spread of
infectious diseases, particularly in school settings.

Designed to go beyond hygiene, the initiative fosters better
health, confidence, and self-esteem, and reduces absenteeism linked to the lack
of hygiene products. By instilling these important habits in children at a
young age, the initiative aims to make a lasting difference in their lives.

Schools benefiting from this programme included the Douglas,
Bongani, Ikageng Intermediate, Vaal-Oranje, Vaallus, and the Bucklands Primary
School.
