Aspiring young scientists across South Africa are encouraged to showcase their initial Eskom Expo research endeavours at an upcoming district expo, where they will be given the opportunity to receive constructive feedback from a team of experts.
This valuable input from experts will enable these learners from Gr. 4 to Gr. 12 to refine their research and enhance the quality of their work in preparation for future presentations at the regional expos.
To register for participation in a district expo, it is required that a learner, teacher or parent contact an Eskom Expo provincial coordinator or regional science fair director.
The Kimberley district expo is scheduled to place on 3 June at the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) in the city.
The regional expo dates and venues in the area are as follows (with the first date being the project submission deadline, and the last date for the awards ceremony, allowing for a project set-up on the days in-between):
- Namaqua (Calvinia), at the Calvinia Primary School from 19 to 22 July;
- Namaqua (Aggeneys), at the Noord Recreation Club from 28 July to 2 August;
- Kimberley, at the SPU Community Hall from 26 July to 5 August; and
- Kalahari, at the Curro Kathu school hall from 14 to 18 August.
Registration for the district expo is still open. Aspiring scientists and innovators can visit exposcience.co.za for more information.
