Potholes in streets adjacent to schools might hold more danger than meets the eye. On school mornings and when school adjourns, learners have to cross these streets. Due to the potholes, motorists drive on any side of the road to try and miss it – as is the case with Lodge Road in Belgravia next to the Kimberley Girls’ High School. This part of the street has many potholes, and vehicles – even public transport with learners – constantly swerve to the opposite side of the road. Apart from the danger of losing control, pedestrians do not always look out for traffic on the wrong side of the road.
