Many people in the Tsantsabane area have been sleeping warmer since Mandela Day after the Kolomela mine handed out blankets and hygiene packs.
On 17 July the mine together with various stakeholders reached out to the needy who struggle in the face of the winter chill.
Overall, 100 blankets were handed out in Postmasburg at the mayoral office, old age home and soup kitchen.
Additionally, in a bid to support the most vulnerable in their fight against Covid-19, hygiene packs were also distributed in various places including the hospital and the Boichoko suburb.
George Benjamin, the public affairs manager at Kolomela, says their contractors are part of the family and also played their part to commemorate Nelson Mandela’s legacy.
Benleg Transport also assisted the soup kitchen with groceries and gas and Always Learning helped with the handout of the hygiene packs, he says.
“We create and sustain jobs, help communities to develop new skills, support education, build infrastructure, and help improve healthcare for our employees, their families and the local communities.
“Our Mandela Day initiatives form a key part of this drive,” says Benjamin.
