Kimberley-born Tshepo Mohale is one of six Royal Cape Yacht Club (RCYC) Sailing Academy members to be the first crew from marginalised communities to race the iconic Cape2Rio on-board the Alexforbes ArchAngel.
Mohale (29), originally from Galeshewe where he attended the Molehabangwe Primary School until he was nine, now lives in Cape Town. He has earned his stripes on and off-board since he started sailing in 2006 at the Izivunguvungu MSC Foundation for Youth. He works at RCYC doing boat maintenance and as an academy instructor.
He is continuously improving skills, and works various positions on the boat. Of his and his teammates’ Cape2Rio attempt, Mohale admits to being slightly nervous.
