The 16 top men and women bowlers in the Northern Cape battled it out recently at the Northern Cape Bowls Singles Championships at the Beaconsfield Park Bowling Green Club and the Sol Plaatje West End Bowls Club in Kimberley.

Sectional play was completed on Saturday, 17 February, with the semi-finals and finals played on Sunday, 18 February.

David Paulse is the winner in the men’s singles category, with Scotty Elliot runner-up in the final.

In the third place was Marco Geel, with Wilhelm Malan in the fourth place. In the final round of the women’s singles category, Marietjie van den Berg was victorious over René van Niekerk.

This is the second consecutive year that Van den Berg wins this category. Annelie Mathewson was in the third place, with Liezel Kock ending fourth.
