Chess players, young and old, can look forward to a weekend of play when it comes to their favourite brain fitness game.
All learners are invited to participate in the Frances Baard Schools Open II Chess Tournament on Saturday (18/03) at the Kimberley Technical High School (THS).
In the school sections of U9, U11, U13, U15 and U19, learners are required to wear their school uniform or school gym outfit.
Arrival and registration takes place from 07:00 to 07:30, with round one commencing at 08:15.
The registration fee is R100 per player, and a light meal will be provided.
The closing date for entries is Thursday (16/03) at 18:00.
The Kimberley Chess Club also invites adult chess players to participate in the Sol Plaatje Open II Chess Tournament held at Kimberley THS, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
This is an International Chess Federation (Fide) and Chess South Africa (Chessa) rated tournament.
The entry fee is R220 per person, and the closing date for entries is also Thursday, but at 22:00.
