Eight new station commanders were recently appointed in the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Northern Cape.

They are:

  • Lt. Col J.S. Kelly, former station commander in Steinkopf; promoted as the station commander in Colesberg.
  • Lt. Col K.P. Ntidi, formerly at Witdraai; promoted to Hartswater.
  • Lt. Col N. Mbelebele, previously relief commander at Kagisho; promoted to Sunrise.
  • Capt. D.B. Greef, formerly relief commander at Pofadder; promoted to Komaggas.
  • Capt. K.C. Gaboinewe, formerly section commander of Campbell Detectives; promoted to Lime Acres.
  • Capt. O.P. Seikaneng of the Kuruman Detectives; promoted to Modderrivier.
  • Capt. M.P. Rispel, formerly Visible Policing commander of Noenieput; promoted to Pella.
  • Capt. B.T. Mlozana of the De Aar Local Criminal Record Centre; promoted to Riemvasmaak.

The conferring of ranks took place on 8 May in Kimberley, and the new appointments have been effective from 1 May.

At the event, Lt. Gen. Koliswa Otola, provincial commissioner, outlined her expectations and simultaneously elaborated on the new commanders’ roles and responsibilities. She reiterated that they would be held responsible and accountable for the crime in their respective station precint.

Several other senior police officials were present at the ceremony.
