In the recent National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination, a total of 81 different question papers were written in the Northern Cape, with 196 642 answer scripts requiring marking across the province.

The marking of these scripts commenced on Monday 1 December at three designated marking centres in the province.

The following personnel have been appointed across the centres: 916 markers, 186 senior markers, 85 chief markers, 21 deputy chief markers, 85 internal moderators, three centre managers, six deputy centre managers, and 250 examination assistants.

“We are proud to announce that the Northern Cape has once again conducted the examinations in accordance with national policies and standards, and we have concluded this phase without any major incidents. Our sincere appreciation goes to everyone who played a part in this accomplishment,” the department stated.

Northern Cape MEC for Education Abraham Vosloo officially opened the NSC marking centres on Monday. He was accompanied by the Director-General of Basic Education Mathanzima Mweli, acting head of department Dr Michelle Ishmail, and senior managers.

The marking and capturing of marks will be completed by 12 December, with results to be announced on Tuesday 13 January, followed by the Matric Awards Ceremony.
