In a demonstration of leadership and community upliftment, the president of the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco), Motlhabane Abnar Tsebe, led a delegation to the Rietrivier Primary School in Ritchie as part of the Presidential School Adoption Programme.

Tsebe, with several dignitaries and representatives, delivered a message of hope, care, and community responsibility. Santaco also donated school uniforms, cosmetics, and dignity packs to learners in need.

This intervention during Women’s Month was not only a gesture of generosity but a deliberate recognition of the nurturing spirit of women in communities.

The event served as a heartfelt thank you to the mothers, grandmothers, guardians, and families who continue to support the taxi industry through their daily use of public transport.

“We are here today not only to give but to listen, to learn, and to reaffirm our role in the broader social development of our communities. These young learners are the future of this nation, and it is our duty as Santaco to stand with them,” said Tsebe.

The Presidential School Adoption Programme is part of Santaco’s broader commitment to social investment, education, and development in the communities that the taxi industry serves every day.

The visit to the Rietrivier Primary School is one of several such initiatives planned across provinces. These visits aim to bridge the gap between industry and communities through meaningful action.

Tsebe was joined by his first deputy, Mazwe Nkonki; and treasurer general, Robert Lentsoane; along with provincial and local taxi association leaders, and representatives of the provincial Department of Transport in the Eastern Cape, the School Governing Body (SGB) and local police.
