Special guest at the event was the South Korean ambassador to South Africa, Chull-joo Park, accompanied by the premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul.

Taekwondo is a relatively modern martial art that has become popular all over the world for the role it plays in helping young people develop a strong sense of self-discipline, self-control, and confidence that can help them succeed in other areas of their lives.

In welcoming the introduction of the sporting code to the university, Saul placed emphasis on the three principals of Taekwondo, which are integrity, perseverance, and self-control – all of which are character traits that will ensure that young people succeed in life.
