A middle-aged man will appear in court this week after he was caught burning copper cables in Garies.
Police spokesperson Capt. Sergio Kock says the police were busy with routine patrols on Saturday, 20 June, at about 09:50 when they noticed a fire.
When the police approached the scene, the suspect fled and they chased him. He was arrested minutes later.
“Copper cables worth about R10 000 were confiscated”, says Kock.
