Need space to put your coffee cup when you sit on the couch?
Here is an easy way to make your own armrest tray.
Supplies
)
1 piece of pine wood at 22 mm x 144 mm x 1800 mm
- hand or electrical drill
- drill bit (star point)
- 3.5 x 40 chipboard screws
- 3 mm pilot hole drill bit
- P100 sand paper
- jigsaw
- tape measure
- wood glue
- stain (your choice)
- paint brush
- wood filler (pine)
Step by step
1. Take the tape measure and measure 300 mm. Make a mark and draw a straight line.
2. Take the jigsaw and saw on the line. Repeat step one and two until you have three pieces of 22 mm x 144 mm x 300 mm.
3. Sand the wood pieces until they are smooth and have no splinters.
4. Take two of the 22 mm x 144 mm x 300 mm wood pieces and drill three holes in each piece with the pilot hole drill bit. Two holes in each corner and one in the middle, but on top of each wood piece.
5. Put glue on the other wood piece, only on the right and left side, but on the 22 mm side.
6. Place wood pieces with holes on the glued area and drill screws in each hole.
7. Take the wood filler and fill all the holes. Leave until dry.
8. Sand the patches of wood filler until smooth.
9. Paint the tray with stain and leave until dry.
Note that all armrests are not the same size, so measurements will not always be the same.
