Solomon (Sol) Tshekisho Plaatje, a luminary in South African literature, was born 147 years ago on 9 October 1876.
In his birthday month, the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) in Kimberley launches Revisiting Sol Plaatje’s Mafeking Diary, edited by Sabata-Mpho Mokae and Prof. Brian Willan, and published by Jacana Media.
The event takes place on Friday, 20 October, at 15:00 in the library auditorium on central campus. Staff, students and book lovers are invited. The dress code is smart casual.
