The Northern Cape Society for the Blind (NCSB) had to postpone its first ever Voices in the Dark concert, set to take place on Friday, 27 October at the Northern Cape Theatre in Kimberley.

During this concert six blind South African artists would have performed in darkness as all lights are switched off during such a concert.

The NCSB was going to receive funding from the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture for our artists’ travel and accommodation expenses, but this is no longer going to happen.

The NCSB was also dropped by the bar that was going to do the cash-bar last minute, leaving no time to get someone else.

Also, the transport that was arranged for the jazz band, had an accident. Furthermore, we did not manage to sell enough tickets, and the Premier and the MEC’s who were invited, are not able to attend. Everything that could have gone wrong, has gone wrong.

The organisers of the Voices in the Dark event tried our best to still achieve our goals, but it is just impossible right now, and the board has decided to postpone the concert for next year.

Hopefully by then, everyone will be there with all tickets sold.

Our apology for the disappointment.
