Corporate uniforms are generally regarded as a professional and sophisticated style of formal office wear.

As a specialist in the design and manufacture of coordinated corporate wear collections, Imagemakers often advises clients on the type of jewellery to wear with formal office attire.

When it comes to corporate wear, it is best to go for the minimalistic look. Imagemakers gives a few tips on how to successfully accessorise office wear.

  • Unless your company has a strict policy about jewellery, gold, silver, crystal or pearl stud earrings can create a sophisticated look. A pair of classy knot studs or simple gold or silver hoops will also add a touch of elegance to your uniform.
  • As bracelets can get entangled with office equipment and bangles can be disturbing in terms of noise, a dainty bracelet is always preferable.
  • To decide on a necklace, you will need to take the neckline, style and colour of your blouse into consideration. A simple gold, silver or pearl necklace should sit significantly above or below the top of your neckline. If you have a high neckline, you may consider a pair of statement earrings, but nothing too flashy. It is also best not to pair a necklace with statement earrings.
  • If you are wearing a shirt with an open collar, a short pendant-type necklace could round off the look. However, a long pendant necklace may also be worn with a rounded neckline. A deep V-neck blouse allows for either a round necklace or a mid-length pendant to be worn.
  • If you are wearing a patterned top, consider keeping your jewellery reasonably simple. A loose, flowing top should never be worn with a necklace, but rather earrings and a ring or bracelet. It is always best to leave oversized, sparkly and brightly coloured jewellery out of the office altogether.
