Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa has signed into law legislation to strengthen efforts to end gender-based violence (GBV).
The amendment of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Bill; Criminal and Related Matters Amendment Bill, and the Domestic Violence Amendment Bill were approved. With this, the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO) will include the particulars of all sex offenders.
The amendment also increases the periods for which a sex offender’s particulars must remain on the NRSO before being removed.
