Over 2 000 Gr. 1 learners across 18 primary schools in the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality have received new school bags as part of a school support programme.
Now in its fourth year, this initiative has expanded its reach, including new areas in Kimberley and Barkly West – in addition to Riverton, Boshof, Delportshoop, Galeshewe, Greenpoint, Holpan, Platfontein, Ritchie, Roodepan and Windsorton.
Matla A Bokone Solar funded the programme as part of its overarching local education support. It also stimulates the local economy by creating jobs for local youths and partnering with a community-based service provider.
“Our donation fosters self-esteem and belonging among learners,” said Lesego Mosiane, Matla A Bokone’s community liaison officer.
