A total of 12 young and dedicated students of Konoha Martial Arts proudly represented the club at the recent New World Shotokan (NWS) Karate Championships in Upington.

Here they showcased their close combat skills in the kata (traditional forms) and kumite (fighting) divisions.

Though the tournament was on the smaller scale, the fighting spirit and determination of the young competitors were anything but.

Each Konoha student walked onto the mat, gave their all and demonstrated their acquired and practised focus, discipline, and true martial arts spirit right to the final bout.

Sensei Janko Janse van Vuuren, who escorted the team, expressed how proud he was of his students’ outstanding performances and the dedication they showcased throughout the sporting event.
