Excitement reigns in Kimberley for Wednesday’s (01/02) One Day International (ODI) cricket match between the Proteas and England, taking place at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley.

This day-night match, starting at 13:00, will be the final of three one-dayers between these international teams. The ODIs are part of the World Cup Super League.

News24 reported that the Proteas need to win three ODIs against England and two against the Netherlands to become one of the eight automatic qualifiers for October’s World Cup.

The first and second match against England takes place on Friday (27/01) and Sunday at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.

“The game is on,” said the premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, on Tuesday (24/01) at an event welcoming the ODI Series trophy in Kimberley. He encouraged all to attend the match, and invited international visitors to experience what the Northern Cape, the province of extremes, has to offer.

Tickets cost R300 for a seat on the grandstand and R250 for space on the grass embankment. Visit ticketpros.co.za and dial 053-833-2601 to enquire about the hospitality package.
