To bring hope when all hope seems lost is the aim of a new non-profit organisation in Kathu.
Hope is Here, which originally started in Witbank, pursues to “love people back to life” through several projects.
When Lizelle Lourens and her husband recently moved from Witbank to Kathu, she realised that this Northern Cape town has many disadvantaged people from all population groups.
Hope is Here also provides support to pregnant women, babies, victims of abuse and the elderly.
Since Lourens is new in town, she is still establishing contact with individuals, groups and other organisations who can all be roleplayers to help realise the vision and mission of Hope is Here.
“In Witbank we used to work closely with the Community Policing Forum,” Lourens says.
To date, she has assisted several individuals who need hope and help in various ways.
With the cooperation of police members, she also donated blankets to people in the squatter camp.
These donations were received from the branch in Witbank.
Apart from needing to build more contacts and get more roleplayers involved, donations of clothing, food and especially blankets will be welcomed.
“We are asking the community to help us with this blanket project,” she says.
“We want to bring warmth to people this winter.”
