Over 400 learners across ten schools within the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) District Municipality were provided with essential school supplies, including shoes and backpacks.
This initiative, funded by the Kathu Solar Park, was in collaboration with the Department of Education as part of its school support programme. School principals have reported that this programme has equipped learners with the necessary resources for the year.
Initiated in 2024 by Kathu Solar Park, with added support from stakeholders like the Sishen Iron Ore Company-Community Development Trust, this initiative has met the immediate, material needs of learners in support of education. The selection of the beneficiary schools and learners was conducted in partnership with the department.
Senatla Bodike, principal of the Baithaopi Primary School, said these efforts addressed immediate needs like providing school supplies, while reducing educational inequality and promoting socio-economic mobility.
