Now in its second year, the Avbob Step 12 programme, supported by the Department of Basic Education, is geared to empower Gr. 12 learners to approach the matric exams with confidence and give them an advantage to improve their final marks.
Three guides were developed – one guide for each of the language examination papers – in all 11 official written languages to assist learners in preparing for the language examination papers.
This programme offers free examination preparation guides tailored to the needs of learners.
The content aligns with the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (Caps) so learners can approach their exams with confidence.
“Our educational initiatives are designed to create a variety of learning opportunities that support South African youth,” says Adriaan Bester, Avbob executive for Funeral Products and Services.
The purpose of the guides is to enable teachers and learners to see the bigger picture of examination preparation and set goals for success.
“After proper classroom preparation, the guides can assist learners in understanding the exam environment better and steering the prepared work in a focused direction that will result in increased self-confidence and focus,” says Princess Bembe, Avbob Step 12 English subject advisor.
This focused direction includes a proper understanding of the time allocated per question, the required format of the answers, and the marks awarded per question.
Since Gr. 12 teachers play a crucial role in shaping each learner’s academic year, the programme offers teachers crucial support.
The guides can help teachers stay on track with their classes during the year, providing consistency throughout the matric year.
The best part is that learners and teachers can work through the guides alongside the curriculum to supplement learning and enhance understanding.
Teachers are invited to visit avbobstep12.co.za to download the free guides, which are available in all 11 official written languages, and share it with learners.
