Players in the Griqualand West Rugby Union, as well as players in the Amateur League, were awarded for outstanding performances during the year.

This annual awards ceremony and celebration event took place on 13 November in Kimberley.

In the Griqualand West Rugby Union’s (GWRU) Amateur League, the Frances Baard Rugby Region is the winner in the Women’s Regional Competition and the U21 Regional Competition. Griquas awarded for outstanding performance in the Currie Cup are:

  • Suzuki Griquas Newcomer of the Year: Caleb Abrahams;
  • Suzuki Griquas Forward Player of the Year: Carl Els;
  • Suzuki Griquas Backline Player of the Year: Mnombo Zwelendaba;
  • Players’ Player of the Year: Gurswin Wehr; and
  • Suzuki Griquas Player of the Year: Mnombo Zwelendaba.

The following players were awarded for outstanding performance in the SA Cup:

  • SA Cup Forward Player of the Year: Albert Liebenberg; and
  • SA Cup Backline Player of the Year: Gurswin Wehr.

The following awards for outstanding performances in the Amateur League were presented to: SuperLeague Winners: Sol Plaatje University;

  • Women’s Regional Competition Winners: Frances Baard Region;
  • U21 Regional Competition Winners: Frances Baard Region;
  • Female referee: Aneka Smith;
  • Male referee: Daniรซl Canhenga;
  • U21 player of the year: Luke Davids; and
  • Player of the year: Queenitah La Meyer.
