For the first time, the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) in Kimberley will be hosting the national University Sport South Africa (USSA) Football Championships.
This event, which commenced on Monday, 2 December, with final matches on Friday, will see men’s and women’s teams of 22 universities go head to head.
The SPU announced its excitement to host this showcase of university football talent.
It has been hosting the USSA Rugby 7s for the last three years.
Spectators, who can attend free of charge, can visit the venues from 09:00 to 18:00.
The venues are at the Kimberley Boys High School on the corner of Dalham and Memorial Road, the SPU South Campus Sport Precinct (Reservoir Road), Suzuki Stadium (Jacobus Smit Avenue), the SPU Central Campus (Lawson Street) and Keeley Park (Solomon Street).
The men’s and women’s knockout stages commences on Wednesday.
The ninth to 12th play-off starts on Thursday, with the third and fourth play-off on Friday at 09:00 (women) and at 11:00 (men).
Finals are at 13:00 (women) and at 15:00 (men), both at the Suzuki Stadium.
