In a week’s time the second Yonder Hartsfees commences, and a festival of this magnitude has not been experienced in Kimberley for many years.

Scheduled to start on Wednesday (24/08) evening, it is set to run until Sunday, 28 August. It is the perfect event for families and friends to come together after a long period of estranging Covid-19 restrictions, to relax and enjoy the variety the programme has to offer.

The opening event of the festival is a steak dinner in Yonder’s Haakbosskerm on Wednesday at 18:00. Haakbosskerm offers an unique outside setting under big camel thorn trees, while guests relax around tables that seat ten people. Catering for this steak dinner is done by Loret Pieters of the 8 Myl Restaurant. Pieter Rischmüller and his band, alias Piet Pompies, are billed to provide entertainment.

From Thursday until Sunday visitors can, amongst other things, support the nearly 100 food and arts stalls and attend the shows of well-known musicians. At the fun park, which includes a merry-go-round, children can be entertained for hours.

Well-known TV and stage personality Lizz Meiring, as well as singer Mathys Roets, will be on stage on Friday from 19:00 in the show “Kamers, Konserte en Kleedkamers”.

On Saturday, Dr Victor and The Rasta Rebels is just one of the acts who will get a turn on stage. Several stages are set up for the festival.

This festival serves to raise funds for Yonder, a centre for adults living with an intellectual disability. Due to various reasons, these adults are not capable of competing in the open labour market.

Yonder, under the auspices of the Northern Cape Mental Health Association, has over the years developed into one of the largest and best facilities of its nature in the country. It offers protected work opportunities in a relaxed, constructive and secure environment, and assists with different forms of counselling, such as equipping families with skills to cope with a family member who has a mental disability.

Members of the public can support this unique Northern Cape centre by attending the festival. Ample parking is available, as well as transport for those who prefer to make use of arranged transport.

For more information, visit the Facebook page Yonder Hartsfees.

Entrance tickets, as well as tickets to all the shows, can by purchased on iTickets.co.za, or at the gate.
