Online admissions for Gr. R, Gr. 1 and Gr. 8 learners can be completed until 20 June.

According to the Northern Cape Department of Education, early enrolment is a priority for the start of a successful school year.

Parents or guardians must log on to the department’s online learner admissions website on ncdoeadmissions.org to complete the application process in three steps.

Once the parent or legal guardian has been registered, the learner profiling done and the application completed, specific documents must be submitted within seven days.

All the applications will be considered and recommended as successful or unsuccessful, based on the following criteria:

  • whether or not the applicant learner already has one or more siblings attending the school of application in the year of submission;
  • whether or not the applicant learner’s place of residence is in the same suburb as the school applied to;
  • whether or not the place of residence (residential suburb) of the applicant learner is adjacent to the suburb of the school applied to; and
  • whether or not the applicant learner’s parent or guardian is an employee at the school applied to.

If spots remain after all the above-mentioned applicants have been offered places, other applicants should be recommended in the order of the application’s position.

The above-mentioned directives with regard to the criteria shall not apply to special schools, technical schools, schools of skill or industrial schools.

For the submission of all other grades, parents or legal guardians can apply directly to schools for admission and placements.

The department has established 128 walk-in centres across the province, especially in remote areas where connectivity challenges are experienced.
