Individuals turn to drugs for various reasons. Some seek pleasure or relief from anxiety, others use substances to escape reality. Proactive measures to address substance misuse were underscored on World Drug Day, observed on Wednesday, 26 June.
This serves as a global reminder to prioritise prevention and combat drug abuse, with the theme, “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention”.
Detecting drug abuse early is crucial. Look for changes like bloodshot eyes, abnormal pupil size, weight loss, unusual body odours, aggression, defensiveness, sleep disturbances and paranoia.
