Dorothy M the pride of Northern Cape gospel singers

A gospel singer from Ritchie in the Northern Cape recently received the national award as Best Influential Gospel Musician for 2023.

Dorothy Mazingane, with the stage name “Dorothy M”, was presented with this accolade during an event on 9 December in Cape Town.

“I feel so honored to be recognised.It is important for us as artists to be celebrated by our own province as we represent the Northern Cape wherever we go,” she says. Dorothy M said it took 30 years of hard work and dedication serving in the Northern Cape, as well as other provinces. She also served in amongst other Zimbabwe and the Netherlands.

As gospel singer Dorothy M previously received several awards in different categories, including Best Gospel Artist in 2022, and Best Music Video and Best Gospel Artist in 2021. Last year she entered the Ukhonukamva National Gospel Music Awards, and was nominated in the categories as Best Songwriter and Best Music Video.

Dorothy M, who already released four albums, started singing in the church choir at the age of 13 years. She sings gospel in several languages, and composes her own music.

She is currently busy with the development of a young ex-drug addict, who is an upcoming artists in Ritchie.

“My dream is to see him and others reaching their God-given purpose and be celebrated for the work they do,” she says.
