In an effort to keep girls in school, members of the police in Upington donated sanitary products to female learners.
Led by Col Eve April, in conjunction with the Community Policing Forum, police members visited three schools in Upington on 26 June.
As Gr. 7 learners have commenced with classes and many households have been experiencing challenges due to a lack of income, the members thought it would be an apt time to reach out.
The Keep a Girl Child in School project has been running since last year.
The project is aimed at donating sanitary products to young girls from underprivileged backgrounds so that they can continue to attend school throughout the month.
A total of 35 learners were supplied with sanitary towels, facecloths and soap to encourage good hygiene and self confidence among girls.
