Balance boards are becoming a popular way to build core strength and balancing skills. Why not make one for your children?
Requirements:
- Pine wood, one of 18 mm x 610 mm x 1 800 mm
- Hand drill
- Drill bit (star point)
- Chipboard screws 3,5 x 40 mm
- Pilot hole drill 3 mm
- Wood glue
- P100 sandpaper
- Paint
- Paint brush
- Wood filler, pine
- Pencil
- Jigsaw
- Measure tape
Step by step:
- Measure the following sizes and make a mark. One pieces of 18 mm x 610 mm x 508 mm, two pieces of 18 mm x 102 mm x 305 mm and one piece of 18 mm x 89 mm x 305 mm.
- Cut with the jigsaw on each marking you made on the wood piece. Take the two pieces of 18 mm x 102 mm x 305 mm and cut them so that they look like half circles. Sand the wood until it is smooth and has no splints.
- Take the two round cut pieces of the 18 mm x 102 mm x 305 mm wood piece and put glue on the 18 mm sides and place it on the two 610 mm sides. Drill two holes in each corner on top and trough the 18 mm x 610 mm x 508 mm and 18 mm x 102 mm x 305 mm. Drill a screw in each hole.
- Take the 18 mm x 89 mm x 305 mm pieces, place it between the half circles and drill a hole through each half circle, but in the middle, and drill a screw through the half circle and the 18 mm x 89 mm x 305 mm piece.
- Fill each hole with the wood filler and let dry.
- Sand the wood filler spots until it is smooth. Apply paint and your board is ready to be used.
