Councillors elected to serve province

Northern Cape councillors were elected to serve on the provincial executive committee (PEC) of the South African Local Government Association (Salga).


Northern Cape councillors were elected to serve on the provincial executive committee (PEC) of the South African Local Government Association (Salga).

The PEC oversees the implementation of Salga’s action programme for the next five years.

The councillors are:

  • chairperson: Michael Segede (Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality);
  • first deputy: Lulamile Nkumbi (Emthanjeni);
  • second deputy: Gillian Peters (Namakwa);
  • third deputy: Rod Kritzinger (Nama Khoi); and
  • additional members: Monray Mac­zali (Kareeberg), Felicity Olifant (Dawid Kruiper), Irene Williams (Kgatelopele), Motshabi Mokgatla­han­yana (Frances Baard), Rhoode Itumeleng (Pixley ka Seme) and Monica Kivedo (Emthanjeni).

Deployees and representatives on the National Council of Provinces and the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature were also elected, as well as a chairperson for the women’s commission.
