The men’s fours team crowned as champions in the Northern Cape Bowls (NCB) Fours Championship appeared to have been a winning team from the very start, considering accolades they previously received.

This past weekend, 16 of the top fours teams in the Northern Cape battled it out in the NCB Fours Championship in Kimberley.

In the men’s section, two teams of the Beaconsfield Park Bowling Green Club made it to the final round. The team of David Paulse triumphed over Wihan Smit’s team from Bloemhof, and CP Mathewson’s team beat Andries van der Walt’s team from Hanover.

In the finals, youngsters Kieran Kelly and Keegan Minopetros were instrumental in getting their team over the line, leading to this duo, along with David Paulse and Scotty Elliot, walking away as NCB fours champions.

In February, Paulse was the winner in the NCB Singles Championship, with Elliot the runner-up. Also, in April last year Kelly and Minopetros represented the Northern Cape at the Bowls South Africa U18 National Championships in Bloemfontein.

In the final of the women’s section, Marietjie van den Berg, Maryke van der Westhuizen, Lize-Marie van Lill, and Anna-Marie van Zyl from Upington walked away as champions.
