A total of 11 students enrolled in diploma studies in Engineering and Business at the Northern Cape Rural Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality have received bursaries.
At the meet and greet session at the end of April, representatives motivated the students, who where introduced to their bursary funders.
EST Sourcing partnered with MaxProf to provide these bursaries. EST Sourcing is a bursary, learnership and corporate social investment management company that partners with corporates and private or public colleges to offer bursaries to disadvantaged youth. Its service offering allows their partners to gain enterprise, supplier development and training B-BBEE points on the balanced scorecard, while contributing to the growth and progression of the youth of South Africa.
At the meet and greet session, Pulane Mogatle, executive mayor of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality, encouraged the students to work hard, understand the value of competing with oneself to build a better future and to not let their backgrounds determine the route their lives take. She said the first step to attaining success is having an education.
The mayor’s office thanked MaxProf – represented by Alvern Malgas – for reinvesting in the communities they operate in. In the message it was said that it is a great example being set, while businesses in the area will hopefully start to see the benefits of corporate social responsibility and the mass difference the initiatives have on many people’s lives – especially that of the youth.
Bursary recipient Victoria Zulu expressed her gratitude to EST Sourcing and MaxProf for giving her this valuable opportunity after sitting at home for six years, not knowing what the next step in her life would be.
Thabisho Kamore thanked the bursary sponsors for changing his life, as he had no idea what would become of his future.
