The Kimberley Equestrian Centre (KEC) appointed Julie Meijer as the new stable manager and riding instructor.
As she was the stable and stud manager at the Lipizzaner Centre in Kyalami from 2017 to 2019, management believes Meijer is very well-equipped to manage KEC.
Until the end of 2021 she worked for the Kyalami Park Club, where she was responsible for organising and running a number of prestigious dressage shows.
During her tenure she also worked closely with the grounds manager and the South African National Equestrian Centre (Sanec) in an organisational, fundraising and administrative capacity.
“We believe that these skills will greatly enhance our horse shows and contribute to the growth and success of KEC,” management says.
Meijer started riding as a child and has many years of experience riding, owning and schooling horses.
She competed very successfully as a junior and adult rider in a number of equestrian disciplines, namely showing, dressage and show jumping.
Meijer, who has owned riding schools, believes the key is firmly establishing the basics and building a partnership between a horse or pony and rider.
She also has experience in teaching riders with special needs.
